Introducing Strange Bird, an audio series on the things that make us feel lonely

[T]he Guardian US mobile innovation lab is launching a web-based audio player that offers a new way to experience podcasts.

The player debuts with episode one of Strange Bird, a show about the numbers that shape our lives hosted by Guardian US data editor Mona Chalabi. The pilot explores the extraordinarily common experience of miscarriage – and why we don’t talk about it.

The pilot episode, produced by Josie Holtzman, explores the fact that one in five women will have a miscarriage – yet the experience can feel remarkably lonely. Through interviews and a careful examination of available data, Mona explores the gap between the frequency of miscarriages versus how little they are discussed.
