Warning after transgender sex offender placed in women’s hostel

A transgender sex offender who targeted girls in supermarket toilets was living in a women-only hostel after her conviction.

A spokeswoman for Women and Girls in Scotland said: “Katie Dolatowski has already taken advantage of access to female spaces to commit sexual assault.

“It is absolutely unacceptable that this person was being given the same opportunity again.

“Female offenders are very likely to have experienced male violence and/or abuse, and many suffer from conditions such as PTSD.

“As such, the presence of males in spaces where they are vulnerable could understandably be very distressing for these women, and for many the presence of a male sex offender will prove to be unbearable.”

The Scottish Trans Alliance was contacted for comment but did not respond.

Dolatowski, who is on a curfew and electronically tagged, was deemed to pose a moderate risk of reoffending.

She was placed by Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on a three-year community payback order at the end of January.

In February last year, she filmed a girl over a cubicle partition with her mobile phone and a month later she shoved another girl back into a cubicle, grabbed her face and ordered her to remove her trousers.

‘We are now free’: Yazidis fleeing Isis start over in female-only commune

In Jinwar, north-eastern Syria, a pioneering group of women are rebuilding their lives away from the constraints of patriarchy

The women’s revolution, as it is known, is a significant part of Rojava’s philosophy. Angered by the atrocities committed by Isis, Kurdish women formed their own fighting units. Later, Arab and Yazidi recruits joined them on the front lines to liberate their sisters.

Gender-affirming hormone in children and adolescents

Evidence suggests that children will change their minds as they age: approximately ¾ of pre-pubescent children attending gender identity clinics will not want to change their gender once puberty starts.

Treatments for under 18 gender dysphoric children and adolescents remain largely experimental. There are a large number of unanswered questions that include the age at start, reversibility; adverse events, long term effects on mental health, quality of life, bone mineral density, osteoporosis in later life and cognition. We wonder whether off label use is appropriate and justified for drugs such as spironolactone which can cause substantial harms, including death. We are also ignorant of the long-term safety profiles of the different GAH regimens. The current evidence base does not support informed decision making and safe practice.

ParentsNext welfare program breaches human rights, inquiry hears

Human Rights Commission tells Senate inquiry that punitive impacts of the program risk ‘entrenching poverty and inequality’

A Senate inquiry is examining the program, which places compulsory participation requirements on about 73,000 people who are receiving parenting payments, have a child between the age of six months and five, and are classified as “disadvantaged” by Centrelink. About 95% of participants are women, and most are single mothers.

Guardian Australia has revealed that about one in five participants have received a temporary payment suspension, but department officials said 82% of those did not affect the person’s income support because they had “re-engaged” before their money was due.
