ACT legislation protects against vilification – making it unlawful to incite hatred toward, revulsion of, serious contempt for, or severe ridicule of a person on a number of grounds including ‘gender identity’, but not including ‘sex’. http://classic.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/act/consol_act/da1991164/s67a.html Therefore it can be unlawful to ridicule someone on the ground of their gender identity but lawful to ridicule a woman for being a woman.
