Students have staged a mass walkout during a speech by former union boss Joe de Bruyn during which he espoused anti-abortion and anti-same-sex marriage views.
Mr de Bruyn was being presented with an honorary degree by the Australian Catholic University.
The university said Mr de Bruyn’s remarks were delivered in a personal capacity.

Mr Panteli said he estimated “95 per cent” of people left the auditorium as Mr de Bruyn continued to speak.
