Qatar Airways avoids Australian lawsuit over women’s invasive examinations

Five Australian women who were strip-searched and invasively examined at Doha airport have failed in their bid to sue Qatar Airways.

They and other women were ordered off a flight and checked for whether they had given birth after a baby was found abandoned in an airport bin in 2020.

The incident sparked public outrage and it was condemned by several nations.

An Australian court found the state-owned airline could not be prosecuted under the laws governing global travel.

Justice Halley also struck out the women’s case against Qatar’s aviation regulator, saying it was immune from foreign prosecution.

However he said they could pursue their claim against a subsidiary of Qatar Airlines called Matar, which is contracted to run Hamad International Airport.

‘It’s just been a nightmare’: Graham Linehan ‘nearly barred from Australia’ over trans views

Father Ted creator Graham Linehan has spoken out on his struggles with cancel culture after years of speaking out on trans issues.

Linehan even divulged a recent struggle that saw him almost not be allowed into Australia, claiming he was seen as being a ‘bigot’.

It comes after the Cass Review delivered a scathing verdict on NHS practices into gender-questioning children.

Linehan believes the report, which said children have been let down by a lack of research and evidence on the use of puberty blockers and hormones, has vindicated his position on trans matters.

With the publication of the review, it emerged that adult clinics had refused to support a study on outcomes for approximately 9,000 young people who have moved over the years from the now-shut gender service at the Tavistock trust into adult gender dysphoria clinics.

Dr Cass said it would have been a “world-leading opportunity” to add to the evidence base and described it as “hugely disappointing” that they had decided not to take part.

UK gender medicine report on puberty blockers prompts reflection, outrage in Australia

A new policy in the United Kingdom to restrict the medical treatments available to trans and gender-diverse young people has raised fresh questions about Australia’s approach in one of the most sensitive areas of medicine and prompted a fierce defence from LGBTQ advocates.

British paediatrician Hilary Cass, who has spent four years on behalf of the National Health Service examining what is known as “affirming care” for transgender young people, published her final report on Tuesday night Australian time.
Over more than 300 pages, she cautions that there is “not a reliable evidence base upon which to make clinical decisions” in transgender medicine because the scientific evidence is of such poor quality.
The NHS announced last month that it would stop routinely prescribing puberty blockers to children with gender dysphoria and restrict their use to a clinical trial as a result of the Cass review.
In response to the report, Australian governments and health services backed their existing approach.
The report also prompted an immediate backlash from LGBTQ groups, who said it ignored the consensus of major medical bodies around the world and lacked relevance to Australia.
A parent from PAGD, a Victorian support group for families questioning affirming care, who wanted to remain anonymous for fear of public backlash if they were identified, said: “We hope this is a wake-up call to Australian medical and educational institutions and that we will finally see some caution and questioning around what is happening to our children.”
Mel Jefferies, a young woman who regrets her gender transition and has returned to her birth gender, also welcomed the Cass report.

EXCLUSIVE: Transgender ‘MAP’ Activist Connected to Pro-Pedophile Group Influencing Academic Research – Reduxx

A trans-identified male who identifies as a “minor-attracted person” and has been running a “MAP” merchandise shop online is also working with a prominent pro-pedophilia group that has consulted academics. Katie Cruz, a pseudonym used by a man who calls himself Cali Miller, has been “working behind the scenes” with activist group B4U-ACT, which campaigns to have pedophilia recognized as a sexual orientation, and which has contributed to academic research at some of North America’s top universities.

The term ‘MAP’ is an acronym which stands for ‘Minor-Attracted Person,’ and is used in online pro-pedophile communities as a way to reduce stigma against individuals who seek to sexually abuse children. It was coined by the co-founder of B4U-ACT, convicted child rapist Michael Melsheimer. Melsheimer explicitly stated that the purpose of the organization was to normalize pedophilia where the National Association of Man-Boy Love (NAMBLA) had failed to do so.

In February 2022, Cruz attended a protest in support of “trans kids” at the Indiana Statehouse. The event, titled “Rally for Hoosier Youth,” was organized in opposition to House Bill 1041, which secures single-sex protections for girls’ sports.

Writing about the event for his blog, Cruz says that he sees himself as a role model for “trans kids,” and that he feels it is his responsibility to advocate for their “equal rights.”

Significantly, Cruz has pointed to the Fifth Edition of the DSM to support his claim that pedophilia is a sexual orientation.

The approach of lobbying for the depathologizing of pedophilia via diagnostic literature mirrors the strategy undertaken by trans activists in their campaign to have the term ‘gender identity disorder’ declassified as a mental disorder.

As previously revealed exclusively by Reduxx, anonymous participants in a fetish forum producing written erotica about halting children’s puberty through castration – along with graphic fantasies of sexually abusing children – claim to have been involved in the process of altering the term ‘gender identity disorder’ to ‘gender dysphoria’ in the Fifth Edition of the DSM. The manual is regarded as the authoritative guide to the diagnosis of mental disorders in the United States, but is also referenced internationally by mental health professionals.

The sports that have banned trans women as World Netball implements new rules

Transgender women are banned from competing in women’s international competitions in new rules implemented by World Netball.

After a lengthy consultation, the organisation came to the conclusion that international women’s netball was a ‘gender affected activity’ and said the new policy – which comes in with immediate effect – was required to ensure ‘fairness and safety’.

As a result, only players ‘recorded as female at birth, irrespective of gender identity’ or transgender athletes who can demonstrate they have ‘not experienced the biological effects of testosterone at any time’ will be eligible for women’s international netball.

The presence of transgender athletes in women’s sport has been a contentious issue in recent years and World Netball’s decision follows similar moves by other sporting bodies.

‘Shaky foundations’: England’s health system to review all transgender treatment | The Telegraph, London

A man holds up a transgender flag.

London: England’s publicly funded National Health Service will review all trans treatment, as a landmark report says that the evidence for allowing children and young people to change gender is built on “shaky foundations”.

Dr Hilary Cass, a paediatrician, on Wednesday published her long-awaited review into the support and treatment offered to children who believe they are transgender, and cautions that extreme care should be taken before anyone under the age of 25 transitions.

It also calls for an end to the prescribing of any powerful hormone drugs to under 18s; warns children who change gender may regret it; finds that many have experienced trauma, neglect and abuse; and says there is no “good evidence” on the long-term outcomes of the treatments that have been given to children.

The review warns of pressures on families, with parents feeling forced to allow their children to transition so they are not labelled transphobic amid a “toxic” debate.

Cass declares that “gender medicine for children and young people is built on shaky foundations”.

She says: “The reality is that we have no good evidence on the long-term outcomes of interventions to manage gender-related distress.”

In response, the NHS is to review all transgender treatment it provides, including to adults, and treatment for any new patients aged 16 and 17 seeking to change gender at adult clinics will immediately be paused.

NZ gymnasts can now wear shorts over their leotards – why is this a big deal for female athletes?

Recent changes in New Zealand sporting dress codes have led to a collective sigh of relief in women’s gymnastics. No longer will competitive gymnasts be penalised for accidentally revealing their underwear while performing.

Indeed, Gymnastics New Zealand (GNZ) has finally modernised its uniform rules, allowing girls and women to wear shorts or leggings over their leotards – just like their male counterparts.

This timely rule change builds on the past few years of global advocacy in which some sportswomen have voiced concerns about how their outfits impede their movements and their confidence.

In 2021, there were also dress code protests by female performers at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Switzerland. German gymnasts donned full-body suits, in response to the ongoing objectification and sexualisation of women in sport.

It was no coincidence that the German gymnasts’ decision to cover up followed one of the biggest sexual abuse scandals in sports history – in the United States, 156 women gave testimonies at the 2018 sentence hearing for the former USA Gymnastics team doctor, Larry Nassar, who was jailed for up to 175 years.

Other gymnasts were prompted to speak out across the world.

In the United Kingdom, multiple elite British gymnasts exposed the emotional and physical trauma they endured at the hands of their coaches. More than 400 submissions by traumatised UK gymnasts were subsequently documented in the 2022 Whyte Review, exposing widespread physical, emotional and sexual abuse by coaches.

In New Zealand, former Blenheim Gymnastics Club coach Gregory Pask pleaded guilty in March 2024 to more than 60 sexual offence charges against girls under his tutelage.

Recent research involving more than 3,000 girls across eight countries confirmed sports uniforms are an important influence on girls’ engagement in physical activity. If girls experience flexible uniform policies, it is possible to keep them active for longer.

2500 older Swiss women just landed a massive climate victory – Women’s Agenda

Older women face a greater risk of death from heatwaves in Australia and all over the world as a result of global inaction on climate change.

Now, a group of 2500 such women in Switzerland have brought the issue into sharp focus, by fighting and winning a landmark case in Europe that links climate inaction to human rights violation.

The group won their victory overnight in the European Court of Human Rights, which ruled Switzerland had violated the rights of the older Swiss women by failing to deliver a decent strategy for cutting emissions.

This win will have ramifications throughout Europe and the world, inspiring others to take action through the courts and pushing governments to consider their obligations to citizens further.

Anne Mahrer, Co-President of the Swiss Senior Women for Climate Protection, said following the ruling that it comes after nine years of fighting for climate justice, with the support of Greenpeace.

“After the Swiss courts refused to hear us, the ECHR has now confirmed that climate protection is a human right,” she said.

JK Rowling’s Harry Potter opening line voted among best of all time

She may be loudly reviled by some for her views on transgender issues and women’s rights, but that hasn’t stopped thousands hailing the opening line of JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter novel as one of the greatest ever.

The opening words to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone have been voted among the most memorable and captivating opening lines from the world of literature by Amazon readers.

Rowling’s views on trans issues and her campaign in support of female-only spaces and the rights of biological women have led to calls for her books to be boycotted, with activists branding her a “terf” – the slur used to describe those who, like the Harry Potter author, believe people cannot change sex.

The Amazon poll will be interpreted as a sign that readers have stuck by her in the face of bitter opposition.
