‘A good law, gone bad’ | Morning Star

The convention was intended to deal with a parent taking their children across national borders without the permission of the other parent. It was particularly aimed at fathers. However, in over 70 per cent of cases the legislation is now being used against mothers, many fleeing domestic violence and sexual abuse. The cases are brought by the perpetrators of that violence with support from the state.

Barrister Gina Masterton first became aware of the Hague Convention when it was used against her sister. She has just completed a PhD on the topic and is clear that the law enables violent or controlling fathers to continue their abusive behaviour.

Masterson has interviewed many mothers who are victims of the Hague. All fled with their children after many years of abuse — physical, sexual, emotional and economic. Some were in fear of their lives, others fearful for their children.

When asked why the UN and the judiciary were so disinclined to acknowledge serious defects in the Hague legislation, one academic replied “politics and the patriarchy.”

Anyone who has had dealings with family court custody cases, in Britain or elsewhere, will recognise the impact of the latter.

Women are unsupported, routinely disbelieved, and often branded “unstable” or mentally ill, accused of deliberately alienating their children from their fathers.

When international politics is added to the mix, women and children become collateral damage. Judges in one country are loath to suggest that a woman might not receive justice if they return to the father’s country, even when the return is to countries where women’s rights barely exist, or where religious and social attitudes stand in the way of any possible equality before the law.

And the child — who was supposed to be protected by the Hague Convention — lives with the abuser, potentially losing all connection with their maternal family, culture, heritage and even language.

This injustice cannot be allowed to stand.

The Hague Mothers FiLiA legacy project will aim to amplify the voices of the women who are victims of The Hague Convention, to raise awareness of the issues, and to work with lawyers, domestic violence experts, children’s organisations, women’s groups, and Hague mothers to put right the injustices perpetuated by this legislation. Our initial focus is on Britain, the US and Australia.

‘Transgender’ Femicidal Killer of Two Indicted on New Charges After Body Parts Found – Women Are Human

83-year-old femicidal serial killer Harvey Marcelin, who served two prison stints for the murders of two women, has been indicted on new charges after investigators connected him to the discovery of a headless, limbless torso.

Serial killer Harvey Marcelin, who admitted during a 1997 parole hearing to having “problems” with women, served his first lengthy sentence after shooting to death his girlfriend in their shared Harlem apartment. At the time of the October 1963 conviction, Mr Marcelin had a pending charge of Attempted Rape of another woman. Mr Marcelin was paroled in May 1984. Less than a year later, he stabbed to death a live-in girlfriend and disposed of the body in a bag near Central Park. He pleaded guilty to Manslaughter, and following repeat rejections from the parole board, was finally granted parole in 2019. Now Mr Marcelin has been arrested on suspicion of the homicide of a third woman, who was found dismembered.
Police executed a search warrant at Mr Marcelin’s apartment, and found what they believed to be the head of Susan Leyden. The 68-year-old had been reported missing by a loved one on March 2.

Littman’s vindication – by Bernard Lane

The influence of American public health researcher Dr Lisa Littman, best known for coining the term “rapid-onset gender dysphoria” (ROGD), appears to have been unaffected by activist attacks on her work.

In its February 25 statement, the French National Academy of Medicine cites Dr Littman’s ROGD paper in the context of “a sharp increase in demand for medical interventions” to treat youth gender dysphoria.

Also last month, Sweden’s National Board of Health and Welfare referenced Dr Littman’s 2021 detransitioners study and declared that the low regret rate (often lower than 1 per cent) claimed by youth gender clinics “no longer stands unchallenged”.

In the Littman detransitioner study, only 24 per cent of the 100-strong sample said they went back to their gender clinic to report their regret.

Thursday’s interim report from the United Kingdom’s official review of the Tavistock youth gender clinic also cites Dr Littman’s detransitioners paper.

The independent review of youth gender dysphoria care within the National Health Service is led by Dr Hilary Cass, who is a former president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, with a track record of concern about patient safety.

“The issues faced by detransitioners highlight the need for better services and pathways for this group, many of whom are living with irreversible effects of transition but for whom there is no clear access to services as they fall outside the responsibility of NHS gender identity services,” the report says.

Tomorrow the international parents’ group Genspect is hosting a #DetransAwarenessDay forum featuring well-known detransitioners including Sinéad Watson, Helena Kerschner, Grace Lidinsky-Smith, and Keira Bell, whose litigation against the Tavistock clinic has been big news around the world.

“Collateral damage”: The invasion of Ukraine reminds us of the cost of surrogacy, and who pays the price – ABC Religion & Ethics

The term “collateral damage” is used in military contexts with reference to the immunity of non-combatants, in terms of the principle of distinction between civilian and military targets. . . . Since at least the time of the Iraq war, the term no longer commonly refers to the consideration of “unintended damage” — such as in traditional Catholic moral reasoning — but rather to “intended damage” that is calculated and factored into the planning of a military mission. And everyone knows this, even if we don’t always say it out loud.

The international surrogacy industry too is calculated in the damage it inflicts to women’s lives. This is, in part, because the surrogacy system works on a franchise model — in other words, it doesn’t look like a part of global late-capitalism; it looks like the creation of happy families. And these “families” are not presented as what they are: part of the damage and exploitation of global capitalism. Instead, the pictures on surrogacy websites are of glossy people who are said to have taken a “journey”: a “surrogacy journey”.

These pretty pictures, and this pretty language, disguise — indeed, we claim, are intended to disguise — a dirty industry which traffics in women’s lives as well as the lives of newborn babies. It runs parallel to other industries that put a price on the bodies of persons, like the trade in bodily organs, parts, and fluids.

Now that the former hubs of India, Nepal, and Thailand have taken steps to outlaw international commercial surrogacy, Ukraine has become a new centre of the industry. Amid the Russian invasion, the logic of profit-maximisation that drives surrogacy has been laid bare.

Women are the collateral damage of the surrogacy industry — not only its unintended damage, but its intended and calculated damage. For the industry and what it calls “clients”, the damage done to the woman who fills the role of “surrogate” is considered as entirely proportionate to the “happy ending” — a new healthy baby — that is the selling point of the industry.

Surrogacy is a human rights violation of the woman who is turned into a breeder of the “product”, an embryo manufactured by the IVF industry and grown in her body into a baby which is then removed (mostly by caesarean). Often, she is not allowed to hold her child, whom she is not likely to see ever again.

Surrogacy is also a human rights violation of the child who never consented to be a take-away baby.

Democrats Like Me Are Furious With Our Party Pushing Gender Insanity

Throughout U.S. law, the word sex is being completely redefined to mean “gender identity” or “transgender.” Congress is doing it. The Biden administration is doing it. The federal courts are doing it.

Most Americans have no comprehension of the implications of this, due to no fault of their own. Very few media outlets will permit us to talk about it. Yet feminists have been talking about it for a long time. The Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF) has been talking about it since its founding in 2013 (I served on the board of WoLF from 2016-2020).

Jennifer Bilek talked about it in this publication in her 2018 essay, “Who Are the Rich, White Men Institutionalizing Transgender Ideology?” She continues to talk about it in her outstanding 11th Hour Blog. The Women’s Human Rights Campaign (WHRC) has been talking about it globally since 2019 and in the United States since 2020 by advancing the aims of the Declaration on Women’s Sex-Based Rights, which has been signed by more than 20,000 people and hundreds of organizations (I currently serve as the president of the U.S. chapter).

The mainstream media steadfastly ignores all of this and is engaged in a concerted effort to hide it from Americans. But Americans are waking up, due in large part to the steadfast work of radical feminists or, as some people might say, “TERFs.”

All of “gender identity” and “transgender” politics is a men’s rights movement intended to objectify women’s bodies and erase us as a class. The entire edifice is a lie. It is left-wing misogyny on steroids.

Democratic Party leadership will not permit discussion about this, anywhere. But I assure readers that there are countless rank and file Democrats who are furious about it. I hear from them every day. Democrats are disgusted that party leadership is promoting the teaching of “gender identity” in schools down to the kindergarten level, celebrating the mutilation of healthy children’s bodies, and cheering on performances of “drag queen story hour” in public libraries.

I am a second-wave feminist and a Democrat. I stand for the rights, privacy, and safety of women and girls. These cannot be protected if sex is redefined incomprehensibly to include so-called “gender identity.”

Gender Recognition Reform Bill: Predatory, abusive men like the paedophile who stole my soul will exploit proposed legislation – Susan Dalgety | The Scotsman

There are young girls this morning who, last night, will have endured abuse at the hands of an abusive man masquerading as a family friend, as a step-father, as a man of the cloth.

I have no idea why Shona Robison and her close friend and boss, Nicola Sturgeon, refuse to believe women when we say we fear the consequences of a law that redefines what it means to be female.

I have no idea why trans campaigners and their allies call us bigots, transphobes, right-wing shills, when all we are doing is pointing out, as the Equality and Human Rights Commission did recently, that the Bill will affect women’s rights.

What I do know is that on Thursday, two of the most powerful women in Scotland betrayed every other woman and girl in the country. All 2.7 million of us.

Custody Crisis Rabbit Holes

Custody Crisis Rabbit Holes” are quagmires women get entangled in when searching for the reason custody was taken away from them, given to their abusive or self-serving ex, and the relationship with their children damaged or destroyed.

These misguided pathways are full of misrepresentations that divert mothers from understanding the true nature and cause of the crisis. They lead to wasting time fighting for ineffective solutions and, worse, misleading other women and the public on the topic.

It is only when women are able to recognize this kind of misinformation that we will be able to unite under a common set of facts and fight a unified battle for an effective solution.

This column is just an overview of the main rabbit holes women can get caught up in. Future columns will go into depth on each one, some more convoluted than others.

COMMON RABBIT HOLES

  • Abuse Rabbit Hole
  • Parental Alienation Rabbit Hole
  • Profiteering Rabbit Hole
  • Rights & Laws Rabbit Hole

The most important thing for women to recognize when it comes to these rabbit holes is that they divert and distract from an understanding that the root cause of the Custody Crisis is systemic discrimination against women, and that is what needs to be eradicated. And in order to eliminate this universal injustice, a new system for deciding custody, which is not rigged against women, must be implemented.

Iowa governor signs bill barring trans girls and women from female sports | Iowa | The Guardian

The Republican governor called the signing a celebration of victory for girls’ sports.“No amount of talent, training or effort can make up for the natural physical advantages males have over females. It’s simply a reality of human biology,” Reynolds said. “Forcing females to compete against males is the opposite of inclusivity and it’s absolutely unfair.”

Iowa will join 10 other Republican-run states with such laws. Some have faced court challenges alleging violations of constitutional rights and federal non-discrimination laws.
