A group of Roman Catholic bishops and priests filed a federal lawsuit Thursday challenging a new Washington law that requires clergy to report suspected child abuse or neglect, even when the information is received in confession.

  1. Well they oughtn’t to win. Arguments canvassed thoroughly in 1970s/1990s in Australia … see chapter in Family Vioence published 1979 Australian Institute of Criminology (I edited it). Plus it’s misprision of felony (a common law crime) and this ought to have been applied to priests all along. No excuses. No cover ups. No sacrificing children to the selfish abuses of men … on the altar of religion.
