Harry Potter author JK Rowling has reportedly donated £70,000 to an anti-trans group’s long-running battle over the legal definition of the word “woman”.
Rowling reportedly pledged the money to a crowdfunding campaign on behalf of For Women Scotland (FWS), which raised a legal challenge over the definition of the word “women” in the 2018 Gender Representation on Public Boards Act.
The legislation aims to ensure public boards have a 50 per cent women gender balance in non-executive member positions, and it includes a definition of the word “woman” that is inclusive of trans women who have a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC).
FWS argued including trans women in this definition would impact women’s rights and expressed concerns about wider implications for single-sex spaces.
The anti-trans pressure group lost an appeal at the Court of Session in November.
On Friday (16 February), FWS announced that they had been granted permission to appeal the decision to the UK Supreme Court. The group quickly set up a CrowdJustice fundraiser to cover legal costs of the appeal.

It is incredibly stupid of any activist to refer to women’s rights activists as “anti-trans”- it just plays into the hands of transgenderism, completely undermines your cause and obscures the fact that your mission is not to end trans rights- it is to protect women’s rights.
For Women Scotland’s mission is not “anti-trans”- they are anti trans-identifying men being allowed to have the same legal rights and protections as women.
It’s bad enough that all media routinely refer to anyone protesting the corrosive effects of transgenderism on society as “anti- trans”, thus giving the TRAs the opportunity to claim we are “denying their right to exist” and other such hysterical nonsense.
We have to be very clear that the groups of people protecting their rights cannot just be rounded up as “anti -trans”. Whatever we think of people, they should have the same rights and protections as anyone else- we are saying, just not more.
What we are protesting, is the ideological capture of public institutions, the impartiality of government, the misappropriation of millions of public dollars to lobby groups headed by career activists hellbent on protecting their interests, the social engineering of society, the harm to childhood, the experimental medicalising of children, the corrosion of family, the erasing of women and the removal of their rights to safe spaces, the erasure of LGB children, the policing of language, the crushing of free speech, the threat of legal action for dissent, the fear of social offending, the compromising of professional integrity of doctors, teachers, counsellors, child protection workers and many others.
