Lib Dems admit discriminating against gender-critical candidate – The Free Speech Union

The Liberal Democrats have admitted discriminating against a mother who was barred from standing as an MP after wearing a T-shirt reading: “Woman: Adult, Human, Female”, reports The Telegraph.

Natalie Bird says she was suspended from the party after being “harrassed” and “smeared” by activists because she fought for women’s rights and expressed her opinion that it is not possible for a person to change sex.

After a three-and-a-half-year legal battle, the party admitted Ms Bird’s claims at the 11th hour before the trial was due to begin next month.

Ms Bird, a domestic abuse survivor who has fought for women-only spaces such as refuges, was first targeted by trans activists in Nov 2017 after she was elected co-chair of the party’s Radical Association.

According to the legal claim, Ms Bird “was bullied by other members of the executive of the Radical Association for expressing her views regarding biological sex and safe spaces for vulnerable women. She was told that she was an ‘illiberal Terf’.” (Terf stands for Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist and is often used as a slur against those with gender-critical views).

BREAKING: TWO “Female Boxers” Set To Compete At Paris 2024 Were Previously Disqualified From Women’s World Championship For Having “XY Chromosomes” – Reduxx

Two athletes competing at the Paris Olympics as “women” were previously disqualified from a women’s world championship for having “XY chromosomes.” Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-Ting of Taiwan are scheduled to compete in Olympic women’s boxing next week despite past questions surrounding their biological sex.

While neither have stated they identify as transgender, it is suspected that both are impacted by a Difference of Sexual Development (DSD), a category of medical conditions encompassing any problem noted at birth where the genitalia are atypical in relation to the chromosomes or gonads.

Speaking to Reduxx, a representative with the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS) condemned the confusion that had emerged surrounding the sex of competitors due to the International Olympic Committee’s 2000 decision to end sex-verification screening.

In the FAQ for the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit, no gender eligibility guidelines are specified, something Smith suggests likely indicates that individual nations were given a tremendous amount of power to deem their own athletes eligible.

“In boxing, the recent contentious split between the IBA and the IOC has now placed Olympic eligibility power into the hands of national boxing federations, allowing countries like Algeria and Taiwan to set their own standards and continue placing male boxers in the ring with female athletes in combat for women’s Olympic medals,” Smith explains.

“The physical abuse of women on an Olympic stage eliminates the integrity of all Olympic events and risks lifelong injury or even death for female athletes. This deceit cannot be allowed to continue.”

Federal Court affirms father’s lack of legal responsibility for childcare costs in appeal ruling | Australasian Lawyer

In He v Secretary, Department of Education, Skills and Employment [2024] FCA 819, the parties separated in May 2016. Their child was enrolled in Avenues Early Learning Centre. Post-separation interim parenting orders made the father solely responsible for all costs associated with the child’s daycare. Later proposed consent orders adjusted this to a 65%-35% split between the father and the child’s mother. However, a registrar of the Family Court rejected these proposed orders due to jurisdictional issues under the Child Support Scheme.

The father applied for the Child Care Benefit (CCB) from Centrelink. He sought an internal review and later appealed to the tribunal, which upheld the initial decision, stating that he had not “incurred a liability to pay” for the childcare sessions as defined under the New Tax Act.

The tribunal distinguished between being liable and being responsible for payment, stating that liability involves a legal obligation enforceable by the care provider. The tribunal concluded that the child’s mother, as the account holder with Avenues, was the one liable for the fees. Thus, the tribunal affirmed Centrelink’s decision.

The father appealed to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA), which dismissed the appeal. The primary judge found that the child’s mother was the person who incurred the legal liability for payment, not the father. The judge noted that the mother’s indemnity rights against the father did not alter the fact that she was the liable party.

The Federal Court dismissed the father’s appeal, concluding that the child’s mother was the individual liable for the childcare fees. The court affirmed the tribunal’s interpretation of liability and emphasized the importance of a direct legal obligation for payment eligibility under the New Tax Act. The father was ordered to pay the respondent’s costs.

[Ed: The headline is somewhat misleading. The father was found responsible for payment of childcare costs pursuant to orders of the Family Court, but not directly liable to the childcare provider as the account was in the mother’s name).

Arjun Kandel sentenced to 12 years for raping and indecently assaulting woman with intellectual disability – ABC News

Disability worker Arjun Kandel has been handed a 12-year sentence for raping a woman with intellectual disablity in his care.

The judge says “predators” like Kandel target the vulnerable and jailing him would protect the community.

Kandel will be eligible to apply for parole in 2031.

Judge Liesl Kudelka told Kandel the penalty she imposed should work as a warning to “predators like [him]” who commit “horrific acts”.

“Sadly, there are people like you who target the vulnerable because of their vulnerability,” she said.

“Abusers like you think you’ll get away with it because someone with such an intellectual disability will either be unable to complain, or if they do, no-one will believe them.

“So, predators like you should be warned in these terms: we have a very vulnerable person here who did complain, she did speak out and she was believed.”

Discovering My Gender-Bendy Prenatal History | Reality’s Last Stand

Various hormone-disrupting drugs, used in abundance in millions of pregnancies over many decades, may be quietly distorting human development.

[M]y mother had been prescribed a regimen of synthetic sex hormones during her pregnancy with me because, at the time, it was (falsely) believed that these drugs could prevent miscarriage or mitigate other pregnancy risks. But what specific sex hormones was my mother given? And to what effect?

I was acutely aware of the catastrophe of the fake estrogen drug, diethylstilbestrol (DES), which was administered to more than 10 million pregnant women worldwide from the baby boom era through 1971, and even later in many cases. This lab-made pseudo-hormone had been widely hyped as an anti-miscarriage treatment or a sort of vitamin that helped produced larger, healthier babies. It was even more heavily used in the livestock industry, causing additional low-level human exposure until it was phased out in 1979.

However, instead of producing healthy babies, DES was a teratogenic chemical mutilator later found to increase risk for a laundry list of horrors for the exposed offspring. In females, these included but were hardly limited to, vaginal and cervical cancer, breast cancer, malformed uterus and fallopian tubes, infertility, and miscarriage. In males, it was linked to testicular cancers, penile and testicular abnormalities, and gender identity differences.[1]

I noticed that those of us exposed to progestins (synthetic molecules with progesterone-like effects) and smaller amounts of synthetic estrogens, including DES, had exhibited shifts in personality. We were often described as more independent, sensitive, self-assured, individualistic, and self-sufficient, yet less cortically alert. Those exposed to higher doses of estrogens were more group-oriented, and less independent or self-assured.

The report also detailed the earlier research finding that synthetic sex hormone drugs could masculinize or defeminize females, or demasculinize or feminize males, both in terms of body and behavior.

Exposure to these drugs were not spread evenly throughout the population. A large U.S. study, the Collaborative Perinatal Project, which involving tens of thousands of pregnancies at public hospitals, found that 5 percent of pregnancies in the late 1950s and early to mid-1960s received such treatments. However, rates were much higher in private clinics and hospitals, like the clinic where my mother was treated, where wealthier women could afford these drugs.

These hormone imposters interfered with the natural signaling involved in developing typical male and female brains. In the case of my high-dose progestin group, she noted that we (females) developed “a more masculine configuration.”

Defects in hormonal signaling—whether innate or externally imposed—can lead to deviations from normal sexual differentiation of the brain, body, or both.

Case in point 1, faulty androgen receptors:Androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS) is a rare genetic disorder in which an XY male with testosterone-releasing gonads (testes) develops along a female or even hyper-feminine pattern.

Case in point 2, virilized girls: The earlier generation of synthetic progestins, used before those given to my mother, had stronger androgenic effects, often causing physical virilization in exposed girls. Severe birth defects included micro-penis-like enlarged clitorises, scrotum-like fused labia, and a conjoined urethra and vagina, known as a urogenital sinus. Unlike natural progesterone, synthetic progestins can interact with androgen receptors, triggering a masculinizing developmental cascade in females.[6]

Case in point 3, estrogenized boys: If a male embryo/fetus experiences low or no exogenous estrogen exposure during the first several months, he is likely to develop a normal male reproductive system. However, if he is whomped with a potent estrogenic drug like DES during mid to late gestation—a critical period of brain development—his brain may develop along a more female-typical pattern. While it’s impossible to have a brain of the opposite sex to your body, the effects of DES can produce cross-sex brain patterns.[7]

[E]ven without a toxic exposure like DES, natural endogenous processes can lead to a non gender-conforming orientation. For instance, research suggests that some women who have successive male children may produce an antibody that increases the likelihood that males later in the birth order will be gay.

Though the use of synthetic estrogens waned in the 1970s, progestin-based protocols remained in widespread use for decades until just last year. In 2023, the FDA finally revoked approval for the last of these drugs, marketed as Makena (technically 17-OHPC, the same progestin in Deluteval and Delalutin). This decision followed clinical trials showing it was ineffective. In May 2024, the European Medicines Agency recommended suspending the marketing authorizations for medicines containing 17-OHPC.

Despite the widespread exposure of individuals to synthetic sex hormones and other hormone-disrupting drugs, knowledge and awareness of their potential fetal impacts has yet to seep into public consciousness.

Recent decades have seen a dramatic 20-fold increase in LGBTQIA+ identities (Figure 3).[10] It seems that narratives about this phenomenon are divided into two camps. One side argues that the escalating rates of gender non-conformity simply reflect greater acceptance of always-existing but previously repressed sexual identities and forms of expression. The other side is concerned that social constructs and contagions might be unduly persuading young people to adopt new gender identities and undergo medical procedures that they may later regret and can cause lasting harm.

However, this debate strikes me as a bit naive, a bit too ideological, and a bit too lacking in context. Neither side seems to contemplate how this surge might in part be the outcome of a long history of drugs subtly reshaping, or at least re-“flavoring,” segments of humanity. The debate should not be limited to “it’s Pride” or “it’s TikTok.” There is also toxicology to consider.

Helen Glover: fathers on Team GB receive less scrutiny than mothers | Team GB | The Guardian

As the world’s No 1 female rower and a two-time Olympic champion, Glover, who has three children, has long been an advocate for working mothers and since announcing her return from retirement a year ago to compete in Paris has been outspoken about the difficulties of juggling parenthood as an elite athlete.

“Many men in Team GB have children, and it’s not spoken about because it doesn’t change anything. And it’s expected that their careers are longer than women’s careers,” Glover told the Radio Times.

“But hopefully the biggest thing about these Games is how many women competitors are coming back after having children.”

When competing in Tokyo in 2021, Glover was the first mother to make the Great Britain rowing team, and qualified for the Olympic final 18 months after becoming a mother of twins. This year, more mothers than ever are taking part in the Olympics and Paralympics and the Olympic village has a nursery for the first time.

“Having children is definitely harder than training,” Glover told the Guardian before the Olympics. “Childbirth is going to happen and you can’t stop it, whereas when you’re rowing, you can stop at any stroke. But having a family and constantly worrying and checking in on them just never finishes,” she said.

“It makes my day much harder, because I’m putting in the same training as everybody else, just with three hours’ less time,” she told the Radio Times.

“But part of being the best mum I can be, is being present. So even if I’m stressed or tired, I see [the children’s] faces light up when I’m at the school gate. Every time, it makes me feel I’ve got the balance right.”

Why are women still facing sexism in sports in 2024?

Australia’s women’s team stood proudly atop the podium, gold medals slung around their necks in what was undoubtedly yet another proud moment for the athletes, and for the nation.

Yet, in the moments following this extraordinary feat, a handful of words from the commentary box cast a shadow over their glory.

“Well, the women just finishing up,” remarked EuroSport commentator Bob Ballard. “You know what women are like… hanging around, doing their make-up.”

The sports world has a long and troubling history of diminishing women’s achievements and expertise. The incident with Bob Ballard is merely the latest in a series of high-profile cases that highlight the persistent problem of sexism in sports media.

In a 2004 interview, Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) President Sepp Blatter claimed female soccer players wear skimpier uniforms and tighter shorts to both promote “a more female aesthetic” and “increase popularity of the game”.

He went on to say, “Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball… Female players are pretty, you excuse me for saying so, and they already have some different rules to men — such as playing with a lighter ball. That decision was taken to create a more female aesthetic, so why not do it in fashion?”

In 2013, BBC commentator John Inverdale remarked that Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli was “never going to be a looker”, reducing her athletic prowess to her appearance.

“Do you think Bartoli’s dad told her when she was little, ‘You’re never going to be a looker. You’ll never be a Sharapova, so you have to be scrappy and fight,'” Inverdale said at the time.

In 2017, NFL quarterback Cam Newton also sparked outrage during a press conference when he responded to a question from reporter Jourdan Rodrigue about receiver routes. Before answering, Newton smirked and said, “It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes. It’s funny.”

It’s time for the world of sports commentary to catch up; to match the excellence we see in the pool and on the field with excellence in the broadcast booth.

“Alienated Mothers Alliance”: A New Support Group

Have you been alienated from your children or do you know a mother who has been?

Alienated Mothers Alliance” [AMA] is a new group for alienated mothers from around the world to get together. It’s for all of us who’ve experienced the same terrible fate: Family Court judges enabling our ex to alienate our children from us. It is a special place where we can share our stories and feel validated.

Alienated Mothers comprise a large subset of Custody Crisis cases but have gotten little recognition or proper support. Organizations that support mothers claim the term/concept of alienation should be banned, alienating (ugh) mothers who want to use the term because it is what they feel was done to them. This has created a female fissure, which serves the opposition: divide and conquer.

Until now, there has been no good, safe place for all alienated mothers to come together. If you are one, welcome to our new Alliance! Please fill out this form if you’d like to join. Even if you are unable to attend our zoom gatherings right now, you can still fill out the form to help us document the extent of the problem.

In the late ‘80’s, Dr. Gardner coined the term Parental Alienation Syndrome, specifically to support expert testimony he would give in support of molester fathers. Basically, he worked for the Fathers Rights gang.

The important point is that Gardner did not create “parental alienation” as PPO/DVO’s [protective parent/DV orgs] posit in their effort to ban it. But it marked the start of the epidemic of judges falsely accusing mothers of parental alienation to switch custody to the father.

So you may be wondering how are kids able to be alienated—kids who’ve we’ve been so close and bonded with their mother. Well, it takes a conspiracy: at least the father with the judge, and often mental health workers to aid and abet.

There is well-researched science behind the methodology used to alienate. Terms used for this are “undue influence” (legal), “coercive persuasion” (psychological), and “brainwashing” (colloquial). These refer to well-tested tactics that change a person’s belief system, feelings, and loyalties. This is especially easily achieved with children, as they are not fully cognitively developed and are still dependent on adults for survival. Kids are putty in the hands of the co-conspirators.

The main requirement is to isolate the child as much as possible from the mother and anyone who supports the truth about the father’s abuse. The judge accomplishes that first step through custody/visitation orders. For younger children, that is often all that is necessary. Their survival mechanism kicks in and they become “Stockholmed”.

Judges are falsely finding mothers to be alienating to justify switching custody to the father who then is permitted to alienate the children from the mother.

Simple. Clear. The public will immediately grok it.

Alienation of children from mothers is arguably the most problematic, common outcome of contested custody cases and it is being obscured by the campaign to ban the term.
