Crown says B.C. father who stabbbed his daughters to death on Christmas Day, had a series of complaints about the how the girls’ mother had treated him

Jennings said the girls’ mother, Sarah Cotton, went to the Oak Bay police detachment on Dec. 25, 2017, after the father failed to return their daughters by noon as required by a court order.

She said police went to his apartment and found six-year-old Chloe Berry and four-year-old Aubrey Berry dead, lying on beds in separate bedrooms with multiple stab wounds to their bodies.

Berry was treated in hospital and underwent surgery to repair a serious injury to his throat or neck, she said. While in hospital, he never once mentioned his daughters or asked how they were doing, Jennings said.  Instead, she said, he had a series of complaints about his parents and the girls’ mother, and how they had treated him.

Man Who Threw Child Off Mall Balcony Was Upset Women Rejected Him

A man accused of throwing a 5-year-old boy off the third-floor balcony of Minnesota’s iconic Mall of America last week told police he was furious that women repeatedly rejected him, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday.

Rough sex between girl and three males was consensual, judge rules

Justice Scott Brooker said he didn’t believe the girl’s evidence that she didn’t consent to having sex with the males, two of whom were adults on trial before the Court of Queen’s Bench judge.

The youth, who can’t be named, pleaded guilty to sexual assault for his involvement in the group sex.

At the time of his sentencing, youth court Judge Richard O’Gorman — who viewed two segments of the video recordings — had a different view of the conduct, calling it a “prolonged, brutal and vicious assault.”

As Sweden gears up to adopt new gender identity legislation, important questions about sex need answering

If a new Swedish bill becomes law, individuals will be able to self-identify as the opposite sex without any surgical or hormonal interventions.

The new definition being pushed via gender identity legislation turns everything around. Sex is no longer about reproductive function, but is an identity. This does not, however, mean that it is regarded as a free choice: according to certain physicians and trans activists, gender identity is an “essence” that exists separately from socialization processes and the body.

Few of us would deny the existence of children who truly feel like they belong to the opposite sex, or the cruelty of growing up in a society where deviance from the gender norms can be severely punished.

But our modern response to children stepping outside of gender roles raises several questions. Is it ethical to surgically modify children’s bodies when they are not old enough to understand the lifelong consequences? If seven per cent of boys now are “naturally effeminate,” is this then not a natural part of what it means to be a male? Why the rush to remove them from malehood, if this is the case? And does this ultra-progressive attitude not entrench a very conservative idea of sex?

While, in the past, we removed dresses from children with penises, we now remove the penis from children with dresses. The bottom line remains the same: children with penises must not wear dresses. This is not a liberation from biologism, but rather the opposite.

Transgender rights clash prompts walkout at CB Abraham Lincoln High

A clash over transgender students’ rights reached a boiling point at Council Bluffs A.L. High School Thursday.

They separated into two groups. A group of approximately 20 girls started chanting for privacy in the restrooms saying they don’t want boys transitioning into being girls to be in the restroom with them.

Another group of approximately 40 students chanted in favor of the rights for transgender students to use whichever restroom they feel comfortable with.

Under state law the school is required to allow transgender students into the restroom of the gender with which they identify.

Growing up fast: why parenting in your 20s is the new punk

According to the Office for National Statistics, the average age of mothers and fathers continues to rise: 55% of first-time mothers in 2017 were aged 30 and over, up from 43% in 1997; 69% of fathers were over 30, up from 60% in 1997. This trend is particularly pronounced among professionals, where the average age of mothers is between 31.7 and 33.5. Meanwhile, teen pregnancy rates have halved in the past decade.

Social media reinforces a sense of relentless perfectionism, with parent bloggers and Instamums driving the bar to unprecedented heights.

Having children in your 20s is a way of sticking two fingers up at this Bugaboo-pushing, #proudmama schtick. “I hate the whole ‘I was born to be a mum’ and ‘I was put on the planet to be a mum’ and ‘children are a gift’ thing,” says Cordal. “They’re not a gift, really. They’re just a product of life.” She is determined that Ari should fit into her life, not the other way around.

Becoming a parent young has its advantages, one of the most obvious being that you are literally built for it, from conception to chasing them round the park.

You could even take the view that, from a long-term perspective, having babies young might be better for your career than having them later. Presenter Kirstie Allsopp caused a stir a few years ago by telling young women to have kids first, and “do your career afterwards … If everyone started having children when they were 20, they’d be free as a bird by the time they were 45”.

Ohio Governor Signs Ban on Abortion After First Heartbeat

“The heartbeat bill is the next incremental step in our strategy to overturn Roe v. Wade,” said Ohio Right to Life President Mike Gonidakis. “While other states embrace radical legislation to legalize abortion on demand through the ninth month of pregnancy, Ohio has drawn a line and continues to advance protections for unborn babies.”

The law makes no exceptions for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest.

Prohibiting abortions at the first detectable heartbeat means prohibiting virtually all abortions, said Dr. Michael Cackovic, a specialist in maternal fetal medicine at Ohio State University Medical Center. He said current standard practice, which involves transvaginal ultrasound, can reliably detect a heartbeat five to six weeks into pregnancy.

Dutch fertility doctor ‘secretly fathered at least 49 children

A deceased Dutch doctor mired in a fertility scandal fathered at least 49 children, an organisation representing parents and children born through IVF at his now-closed clinic has said.

Jan Karbaat, who died in 2017, is the direct father of 49 children born after women visited his Rotterdam clinic, where he used his own sperm instead of that from a chosen donor to inseminate them, Defence for Children said.

Before his death, Karbaat reportedly admitted to having fathered about 60 children in his time at the discredited clinic, which closed in 2009 amid reports of irregularities.
