Third Way, a centre-left think tank, accused Democrats of using “an awful lot of words and phrases no ordinary person would ever dream of saying”.
In the aftermath of Kamala Harris’s election defeat to Donald Trump in the 2024 election, critics accused the Democrat party of spending more time pandering to “woke” causes than focusing on the issues that mattered to ordinary Americans.
Republicans honed in on Ms Harris’s support for trans rights in their attacks during the 2024 race. It was argued to be one of the key issues that cost Democrats the election.
