More than a dozen groups opposing violence against women from across Scotland have united to launch a new network to preserve single-sex spaces.
The new partnership, Single Sex Providers Network, led by campaign group Frontline Feminists Scotland (FFS), includes local branches of Women’s Aid and Rape Crisis as well as several independent, autonomous organisations among its 14 members.
There has been a growing row over the loss of single-sex spaces in Scotland such as rape crisis centres, women’s refuges, changing rooms, toilets, prisons and hospital wards in the drive by institutions, businesses and organisations to become trans-inclusive.
Both the national umbrella groups Scottish Women’s Aid and Rape Crisis Scotland support the concept of self-identifying trans people choosing which spaces they wish to use — signalling that some branches are now prepared to break ranks over the issue.
The spokeswoman said all 14 member groups and their boards “have serious concerns about speaking publicly for fear of losing funding for their services”. She added: “We believe that we can only address male violence by recognising it as an act of extreme sexism, experienced directly by individual women but that impacts culturally on all women and increases the power of all men. Until such times as single-sex providers in Scotland feel able to speak out without fear of retaliation or loss of funding, Frontline Feminists Scotland will be a conduit for their voices to be heard.”

It is really sad that we have to look to Scotland to find an idea for getting women together to protect our human rights as females, ie. half of the species! We used to have Women’s Liberation and now only come together (if at all) to watch ‘our’ feminist history at an occasion of viewing the film “Brazen Hussies”……………not surprisingly we have to find out that there are already State laws accepting ‘gender identity’ (Victoria) as legal individual identity, and we have to be ready to fight for our rights to be female athletes and/or playing Women Sports, not to speak of having to fight to keep our women’s services and women’s special needs etc. against those who calle themselves ‘women’
